Police and forensic technicians collect evidence at the scene of a deadly drive-by shooting in the Mexico City suburb of Coacalco. |
Five males between the ages of 17 and 20 died as a result of an early morning attack in Cuatitlan Izcalli, a municipality in the central state of Mexico.
Four of the youths were pronounced dead on the spot, while the fifth died later at a hospital, police told Milenio.
Investigators found 10 shell casings from a .9 mm pistol at the scene and the killings bore the hallmarks of organized crime, the daily said.
That attack came just hours after three men died in a possibly drug-related drive-by shooting in Coacalco, Mexico state, east of Cuatitlan Izcalli.
Both municipalities are part of the Mexico City metropolitan area, home to more than 20 million people.
Spokespersons for the Mexico state Attorney General's Office said they could offer no additional details about the shootings.
