Elephant freed from chains after 30 years.
Kaavan the elephant is living proof that everyone deserves a happy ending to their story.
It's just a matter of how long it takes, and Kaavan's story happened to take more than 30 years.
Samar Khan discovered the elephant while visiting her family in Pakistan back in 2015. When she learned the poor animal was chained day and night for nearly three decades, Khan started a petition to free Kaavan.
In just a matter of days, animal activists won the fight and Kaavan was finally unchained.
He was able to walk freely within his enclosure, something he'd been unable to do for quite some time.
To see that he remains free, the Help Welfare Organization visits the zoo daily to ensure Kaavan does not get chained up again.
After three meetings, the Senate of Pakistan agreed to relocate Kaavan to a sanctuary.
Now Kaavan can meet other elephants and live in a natural setting, though surely he will not forget the lovely, caring people who gave him a voice in the first place.
