Two Al-Shabab suicide attackers have set off bombs outside the African Union's main peacekeeping base in Somalia's capital Mogadishu.
A car bomb was detonated near the airport on Tuesday morning.
Another man exploded when he tried to storm the base on foot but was shot at the gate.
Local media reports that 12 AMISOM and UN guard forces have been killed.
Police officer Major Nur Osman told Reuters 'we have not yet confirmed the casualty figure'.
Terrorist group Al-Shabab, which is allied to al-Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the attack, Al Jazeera reports.
Thick smoke could be seen in the area and local witnesses said there gunfire was heard at the scene.
